....
It's officially known as Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World, but considering the feature card is one that grants you the power to steal souls ... lol... in the anime anyway.
More importantly, THE REPRINT FRENZY CONTINUES!
Hot on the heels of the summer Tins, where newer money cards like Evolzar Dolkka, Wind-Up Rabbit, Wind-Up Zenmaines, and I expect Rescue Rabbit, will be released as easy to get promos, is this behemoth of a set, full of cards to holo out newer players decks and devalue collector's collections!
Obviously it's hard to estimate the exact impact that this will have on collections, but it looks like Konami's really aiming to destroy the secondary market, with notable holo reprints of cards like:
Royal Decree
Morphing Jar
Book of Moon
Never mind about booster pack holos, it seems even TP / CP / TU cards, which have long been known to generally hold their values, are unsafe from the glut of reprints! Flee!
On the flip side, it's cool that Dragged Down, Raigeki Break, and Reckless Greed will be getting the holo treatment, I guess.
Obviously the real winner is Konami. Yugi's World? More like Konami's World.
I thought this was a joke post for a second when you mentioned the Seal of Orichalcos, but this for real...I cant believe it! Nothing is sacred anymore...
ReplyDeleteA joke? I am the most serious of doolists. Seriously.
DeleteIf it does contain some decent shit, I might buy it. I do personally theorize that they're really doing this for 3 sole reasons:
Delete1. Obliterate the secondary market, thus forcing people that made money off of this game to quit making money better than them.
2. Beat Cardfight Vanguard in sales; isn't it obvious.
3. Get most of their players to get back into playing this unfair game.
It will contain a lot of holo staples, but the thing is that the new holo methods make cards look like stickers, which isn't terribly appealing.
Delete1. Yes, they already eliminate the secondary market through reprints of newer money cards (eg dolkka), now they're weeding out the collector's cards too. Morphing Jar is available in multiple rarities, leading collectors to prize their ultra copy, for example, and this is like a (dive)kick in the nuts
2. Possibly
3. Not happening if next format is shit as well
Yeah, if they don't troll around us again. Konami is the anti-christ in card game companies.
DeleteI'm not expecting them to learn from their mistakes lol
DeleteNobody is, which is why maybe perhaps the next list wouldn't be as bad.
DeleteI don't see any problem with eliminating the secondary market, since the prices are ridiculous. However, the secondary market wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't for the way konami prints their rarities.
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly, though I do have a problem with Konami giving the middle finger to collectors by reprinting Decree and MJar in ultra again. Like obviously the value of the TP version won't tank drastically, but you get my point, I hope. It would obviously be different if it was a card that was hard to get and hadn't seen a reprint before, but this is obviously not the case
DeleteI'm loving these kinds of sets. I only got in the game a few years ago. Trying to get old cards like Karbonala Warrior, Nobleman of Extermination, Legendary Jiujitsu master or Dragged Down into the grave can be a pain. It's with sets like these, we're having a chance of getting them again, without being ripped off in the process.
ReplyDeleteAnd I honestly never thought they would pick the seal as new card. If the card text remains as it is, this will be an interesting new Field Spell. :-P
Are those old fusions like Karbonala Warrior even in this set? :S
DeleteLol who knows, the field spell might be good for Malefic Drain.dek :o
Good question... They put in Instant fusion in the last LC & in the Ra Yellow pack. So this one should better have the friggin' targets for it :-P
DeleteI expect the Seal being the one not known Extra Pack card ... and I expect it to be broken.
ReplyDeleteSrsly only your monsters gaining 500+ is good. Hard to be removed from field is also good. Strong monsters protecting your weak ones? Enables stuff ... I expect the Seal to be tooo good and gaining probably staple status. Like everybody running 3 till it gets the hit in March to 1.
Generic Field Spell card giving you an advantage? Here we go ...
I doubt it, like I think it will be good with malefic skill drain, and probably decks that spam a bunch of weak monsters (gadgets?), but I can't see it being a staple (obviously I could be wrong)
Deletethe most delicious holos in my opinion are raigeki break and dragged down to the grave =D
ReplyDeletehonestly, i don't think the reprints will affect the TP price by a great deal, but like what you have said, collectors certainly won't be happy about it.
Agreed on both accounts. The reprints will be with problem solving card text, the new bigger picture, and the new holo 'type' (it curves more, looks like a sticker, etc), which can be easily distinguished from the older ones. It's just that an ultra decree or whatever won't be as 'exclusive' anymore, which is what appealed to some collectors [i don't own one myself, but just saying]
Deletelol yea, the new foils from RYMP just looks weird. looks like konami is saving on costs XD
Deletewith the reprints, with every 1 "collector" that gets sad = 10 "average joe"s become happy :D
ReplyDeletethe key is not to overpay for any card for whatever reason since most cards released within a few months of each other eventually form their "big 3", all you need to do is buy the cheapest of them all :P
at the end of the day though it's still obvious that Konami needs better R&D or that not having set-rotation has this consequence. since buying/trading cards in this game is already "part of the game", hence why it feels exhausting at times >_>
Now i really gotta keep my new years rev. to beat you or else i will get my soul stolen by u again lol. :D
